Hoback River Wash Out

We had an amazing trip out west to Rexburg for Hiram's family reunion.  We loved every second of it.  On the trip home we had just started our way across Wyoming and had another 22 hours or more in the car to go.  Suddenly Joey started to whimper in the back seat. By the time we realize he was serious he vomited about 10 oz of chocolate milk and his lunch all over his car seat. (He did have the decency to contain it thank goodness!)
We pulled off the side of the road as soon as possible to clean as much vomit out as we could since this prego didn't want to cross the country in a minivan that smelled like vomit! Joey cleaned up pretty quickly and it was evident that he wasn't sick...just car sick! Thank goodness we had a giant pack of wet wipes!

The car seat however was a different story.  Its a fantastic seat with lots of crevices and crannies for puke to seep into! We pulled out a bunch of water bottles and a couple beach towels and did our best with it.  However it was obviously not going to be enough. So Hiram had the brave idea of hiking down the ravine to the Hoback river below and washing it out pioneer style!

He did a great job and I couldn't stop laughing at how wet that thing was.  We did our best to ring it out but that thing wasn't going to be dry for HOURS!  We put some towels down on the seats and explained to Joey that we were sorry he was going to be a bit damp for a while till it dried out.  He was a good sport about it and didn't complain as long as he had his blanket to keep him warm.  I will never forget Hiram down in that river scrubbing away at that car seat.  What an adventure!
